Corona

Corona is a pale lager produced by Cerveceria Modelo in Mexico.  It is one of the top-selling beers worldwide.  Outside of Mexico, Corona is commonly served with a wedge of lime in the neck of the bottle to add tartness and flavor.  In the U.S Corona is the top selling imported beer.

The color of this beer is crystal clear yellow in the similarly clear bottle.  The bottle looks even better with that attractive, vibrant green lime on top.  The beer explodes to life as the acidic lime drops in, bubbling heavily and yielding a small, fizzy head.

The smell is the biggest issue with a pale malty nothingness, some corn husk, and now some lime fruit juice because of the lime I squeezed in there.  Doesn't smell the greatest, but we all know what to expect with this one.

The taste is that of sweet malt with perhaps a bit of corn to it.  Not bad, but the aftertaste is a bit grimmer, with more somewhat a plastic character.  I gotta say, I've had worse macro lagers, but this still isn't too good.

Overall, an average beer with really good marketing.  Corona is a nice light beer to drink if you are having a Mexican meal, it's hot outside, and you plan on drinking 10 or so.  Otherwise, very plain light beer that's not worth writing home about.

Thanks for reading and as always please feel free to leave any comments you may have.  Until next time drink one for me.
