Ice House

This beer pours a medium golden color with tons of small bubbles rushing p through the body of the brew. There is a big white head on the top which fades very fast to leave a moderate level of lacing.

Upfront he taste is on the slightly drier side with flavors of corn and rice up front. As the taste advances some light hop bitterness comes to the tongue.  This is accompanied by a very light metallic taste, but one that is very light and not overpowering or very off putting.  Overall the taste was much better then what I anticipated.

This beer offers a smooth light body, with high carbonation; and a crisp and refreshing aftertaste.  Sweetness, and that typical and inviting beer aroma.  Some grassy hops, maybe?  A little corn.  This wouldn't be ever be my first choice for a beer, but in the category in offers things other don't such no metallic off notes and not off apple-like yeast notes.

it is what it is... a cheap ice beer. nothing special.  Overall, this isn't the worst ice beer ever, but it wouldn't be my first choice. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for.

As for always thinks for reading and please feel free to leave any comments.  Until next drink one for me.

Corona

Corona is a pale lager produced by Cerveceria Modelo in Mexico.  It is one of the top-selling beers worldwide.  Outside of Mexico, Corona is commonly served with a wedge of lime in the neck of the bottle to add tartness and flavor.  In the U.S Corona is the top selling imported beer.

The color of this beer is crystal clear yellow in the similarly clear bottle.  The bottle looks even better with that attractive, vibrant green lime on top.  The beer explodes to life as the acidic lime drops in, bubbling heavily and yielding a small, fizzy head.

The smell is the biggest issue with a pale malty nothingness, some corn husk, and now some lime fruit juice because of the lime I squeezed in there.  Doesn't smell the greatest, but we all know what to expect with this one.

The taste is that of sweet malt with perhaps a bit of corn to it.  Not bad, but the aftertaste is a bit grimmer, with more somewhat a plastic character.  I gotta say, I've had worse macro lagers, but this still isn't too good.

Overall, an average beer with really good marketing.  Corona is a nice light beer to drink if you are having a Mexican meal, it's hot outside, and you plan on drinking 10 or so.  Otherwise, very plain light beer that's not worth writing home about.

Negra Modelo

Negra Modelo is a 5.3% abv. Vienna lager first brewed in Mexico by Austrian immagrants, and was introduced as a draft beer in 1926.  Negra Modelo comes in an unusually shaped, wide brown bottle with a trademark gold label. The full name of the beer is Cerveza Negra Modelo. The word "modelo" means "model" or "example" in Spanish. "Negra" means "black" or "dark" and modifies "cerveza."

The color is a nice brown rubi color, reminds me darkish copper coloring.  It has a thin white head that dies down fast and leaves next to no lacing.  To really bring out the head a freash lime needs to be added.

The aromas definitely give out hints of toasty malts, caramel and a slight nuttines.  Mixed with these aromas was a nice herbal smell as well.

The taste was surpursingly sweet.  A bitterness from the hops comes through in the aftertaste and lingers for a while but not too overpowering.

Modelo is light bodied lager with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth but slightly thin, creamy and crisp, goes down pretty easy.

Overall Modelo was a very surprising and enjoyable experience.  Best if drink by the bottles.  I would prefer this beer at a mexican resteraunt, much better than corona.

Bud Lite Lime

This one is pretty simple and straight forward, it's Bud Light with lime flavor added.  I can't say a lot of great things about this one.  This beer is just plain nasty, the taste is just horrible.

The color is a clear light yellow with a few bubbles and with a white head that dissipated quickly.  No greenish color present but it looks a little greasy.

Fake lime and vegetable grains are the first smells that come to mind.  Smells more like a cheap air freshener rather than something I’d drink.

The taste reminded me of lemon lime type drink, like a 7-Up, except with a little alcohol bite.  The taste is better than the smell, but still awful.  The worst was the finish, with about 70% of the flavor resembling a cheap lime sucker.

The body is very light and watery, full of carbonation.  The best way to sum up this beer's rather weak demeanor is "beach beer", better yet free beach beer.

This is just a cheap Corona wanna be.  This beer goes down like water and resembles a lime-flavored soda.  Best drank from a can and rather quickly.

Pabst Blue Ribbon

Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) for short is a brand of beer sold by Pabst Brewing Company, originally established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1844, but now based in Los Angeles. Pabst Blue Ribbon is contract-brewed in six different breweries around the U.S. in facilities owned by Miller Brewing Company.

The appearance consists of a pale yellow body with a foamy white head that dissipates pretty quick.  Decent amount of lacing afterwards but ends bubbly with a good but short-lived head.  The body is moderate, with carbonation a tad on the high side.  Not as watery and thin as one might expect, really surprised.

The aroma is weak with some hops and maybe some baker's yeast? idk.  It definitely smells like beer should just not a very pleasant one.

The taste is of grain, light hops, and light malts, and surprisingly rather crisp.  One thing that caught me off guard was that there was some sludge left over.

This beer is light, fizzy and flavorful, overall, one of my favorite beers.  Recommended by a college student in that the cost is quite low, less than a six pack of Bud, way less.

Taste best straight out of the can, especially on a hot day.

Thanks for reading and always please feel free to leave any comments you may have.  Until next time, drink one for me.

Michelob

Michelob is a 5% pale lager developed by Adolphus Busch in 1896 as a "draught beer for connoisseurs".

This beer ia a crystal clear, of golden yellow appearance.  The beer was topped by an eggshell colored crown. The head quickly faded to a thin yet resilient cap.  The flavor tastes recognizably Bud-like thought.

The aroma consist of barley malts, some spicy hops, and a crisp aftertaste.  Very light, grainy, with malt flavor up front, with grassy and some herbal, snappy hops throw into the mix.  Washes down very dry and clean with minimal hop aftertaste.

Very light but still it's not outright bad and is probably a good starter brew.  A million cheaper beers are just as good.  There is nothing complex about this beer, but just a standard decent beer that can pretty much go with anything.

Over all I am satisfied and will try again in near future.  The best serving type is ice cold srtaight from the bottle.  This is a surprisingly drinkable beer. It's been many a year since I had one. It was better than I remembered it would be.

Miller Genuine Draft

The Miller Brewing Company is an American beer brewing company owned by the United Kingdom-based SABMiller.

The appearance is that similar to that of a lager beer.  This beer pours a very pale straw yellow color with nearly no head.  It almost passes for golden, but I won't go that far.  The feel is smooth with a good amount of carbonation. One bad side is that this beer is thin and watery.

The smell is of sweet cereal with a lot of corn and some skunk.  The smell is not too strong but is the weakest point of the beer.

It tastes of hoppy sweetness and grain and has a mild bitterness with a dry finish.  To be fair I can taste some malts in there as well. The taste isn't great but better than the smell.

Overall fairly middle of the road. No major attractors or detractors. Fairly bland, good on a hot summer day.  This is a pretty good beer for what it is, would take a Michelob or Yeungling over it though.  Best served from a bottle. Overall this is better than I thought it was going to be.  It's very drinkable, but nothing special.

Thanks for reading please feel free to leave any comments that you may have.  Until next, drink one for me.

Rolling Rock

Rolling Rock is a 4.6% pale lager launched in 1939 by the Latrobe Brewing Company.  Although founded as a local beer in Western Penn., it was marketed aggressively and eventually became a national product. The brand was sold to Anhesur-Busch of St. Louis, Missouri in mid 2006, which transferred brewing operations to New Jersey.

Not much too be said about this beer.  It is very nice with a dense white head.  Umm... it was quite sweeter than many light lager style beers.

Best to drink this one cold and straight out of the bottle. Taste is weak and fizzy but still pretty easy to drink and kinda refreshing. Needs more hops.

When poured into a glass it's got a nice calm look. Smells like party beer. Cheap, easy to down. Bit of a hint of rice. You can't really taste much. Pleasant mouthfeel, unlike most cheaper brews. I enjoy this one because it's inexpensive yet appreciated it most when i'm not paying.

Overall this beer is less than impressive.  It would be a great beer to party with since it goes down so easily and it will eventually do it's job, But from an advocate's perspective, this stuff is garbage.  I've drang the whole batch and am wanting my money back.

There you have it, if someone else is buying have at it, otherwise don't bother.  Until next time, drink one for me.

Coors

Coors Brewing Company is a regional division of the world's seventh-largest brewing companies.  Coors is also renowned for operating the Golden, Colorado brewery, the largest single brewery facility in the world.

This beer pours with a honey amber color, with a medium sized white head that dissipates well after leaving a slight but lacy clear color.

The smell is very distinct.  There is some note of a sweet candy smell but mostly it is made up of smells that are just hard to get past the nose.  What I did notice was a use of nice caramel malts, maybe a touch of honey or bit of corn husk.

The taste, oddly enough, is a light hoppyness which reveals a bitterness to the beer. A very confusing flavor profile is within the slight bitterness. The bitterness eventually fades away laving some doughy after taste.

This beer really shines with each sip.  Great carbonation and a long lasting good aftertaste that is good for video gaming, no need to pause Borderlands while drinking.

Credit to Coors for the attempt because it isn't a bad beer. What I taste is a brew that has little to offer the craft customer and not much for the gateway craft drinker but just a clean low-budget beer.

Overall I would drink this again.  Mainly to try it in different forms other then a conventional can.

Thanks for all the support and as always comments are welcome.  Until next time drink one for me.

Samuel Adams

Samuel Adams is an American brand of beer brewed by the Boston Beer Company.  The company was founded in 1984 by Jim Kosh, Hary M. Rubin, and Lorenzo Lamadrid in Boston, Mass.  The name Samuel Adams was chosen after an American patriot, by the same name, famous for his role in the American Revolution and the Boston Tea Party.  Based on sales in 2011, the Boston Beer Company is tied with Yuengling for the largest American-owned brewery.

This beer pours a nice amberly color, with a good head. The smell is just a nice lager smell, but the taste, while clean, nice, and lagery, has a certain nuttiness, or breadiness that I really enjoy.  This is an easy to drink, really good beer.

You can definitely small the malts in this beer. Very pleasant and there is a hint of hops aroma as well.
The taste is light sweetness and light bitterness. Toasted malt and mild citrus is also present. Well-balanced, not as carbonated as I was expecting, this beer managed to slightly exceeded my expectations.

As a craft beer legend Samuel Adams Boston Lager, keeps it strong, smooth and simple. Best enjoyed from the bottle, this is how a simple beer should be.

As always thinks for reading, feel free to leave comments.  Until next time, drink one for me.

Guinness

In honor of Saint Patricks day day I decided to drink an Irish favorite.   Guinness is a popular Irish dry stout that originated in the brewery of Author Guinness (1725–1803) at St. James's Gate, Dublin.  Guinness is one of the most successful beer brands worldwide. It is brewed in almost 60 countries and is available in over 100.  850 million litres (1.5 billion imperial or 1.8 billion US pints) are sold annually.

Well poured with a good, firm head and typical Guinness appearance.  Due to it's more filling nature this beer dose not look pleasant in a glass. Pours a foamy which lingers and is as black as the night.

Very bold flavor, at the end of the day though, this is not a bad tasting beer at all. And unlike other macro beers, it doesn't taste like water.  One thing I noticed is that there are nice malt flavors, but not much of a hops flavor.

Overall a fairly simple yet good drink that you can easily drink 4 or 5 without noticing.  You won’t have to twist my arm too hard to get me to drink one.  The only think that me and my friends disagree on is how it is severed.  I prefer tap while they prefer a bottle.  So what to you think can/bottle/draft?

Thanks for all the support... leave comments.

Heineken

Heineken is a pale ale beer with 5% alchole by volume produced by the Dutch brewing company Heineken international.  Heineken is also an import beer.

This beer is malty and sweet at first, somewhat shunky.  A light amount of bitterness is present and this lingers through the aftertaste.

As with the taste a nice skunky smell is present, that I have always liked.  I think it is because of the green bottle that this smell is present.  Eventhough skunky it is very clean.

If you can get over the skunky aspect it is not that bad.  These are somewhat muted and masked by notes of corn, grainy malts and grassy hops.

Overall Heineken is pretty refreshing though, not too heavy or overcarbonated so that was a good aspect. Obviously Heineken isn't really the best beer ever, but hey, it serves its purpose of letting you get drunk quickly. What it lacks in quality it makes up for in price sadly however.

This beer is best servered cold and in the bottle.  Not the most complex beer, but a nice pale lager. Easy enough to drink with nothing off-putting as long as it's decently cold. I wouldn't turn it down if offered for free.

Thanks for reading and as always drink one for me.

Moosehead

Moosehead is Canada's oldest independent brewery, located in Saint John, New Brunswick.  In 2003, Moosehead Lager won a Gold award at the World Beer Cup, and earned another at the prestigious Monde Selection.  Moosehead also produces under contract a number of international brands on behalf of four of the world's largest brewers. All brands of Moosehead have "Union Made" displayed on their labels, and in some cases, directly on the bottle.

Until about five years ago Canada was the only place to find Moosehead.  Now it it common in most beer selling venues.  The beer is brewed with a blend of hops and barley.  This gives a clean taste, one that's not bitter, and a refreshing taste.

The color is a little odd if your not expecting it.  It pours yellow and depending on how you hold the glass determines the amount of head.  It isn't to hoppie nor malty, just clean with no after taste.  As always this beer is best cold.  As with all foreign beers this one has a little higher alcohol content than with U.S beers which is about a 5.0%.

My first impression of this beer is that it can be a reasonably good seasonal beer.  I think this would make a good Sunday afternoon, football-watching beer.

Thanks for reading and all for your support.  As always comments and opinions are welcome.  Until next time, drink one for me.

Bud lite

Bud lite comes in many forms.  There's the original, bud lite platinum and bud lite lime.  Bud lite, in my opinion, is the ultimate party beer.  Bud lite has grown to become one of the highest selling beers in the United States.  It contains 30% rice, (the rest is water lol).  Lite beer by definition means low alcohol. Along with low alcohol lite beer contains less calories.

Bud Light is brewed by Anheuser-Busch in St.Louis Mo, and has a 4.2% by volume.  What can I say this beer looks good, other than that there is nothing special.  Bud lite is found in almost every convenience store and it goes good with drinking games due to it's low alcohol content.

Here we go!  Again the best quality of this beer is it's availability.  I'm not saying anything bad but it's color is weak brown at best.  The taste when compared to traditional Budweiser is lacking.  When I pour it into a glass the question of why bother comes to mind.  Glass or can it doesn't change anything.

The best part about this beer is the marketing.  The selling factor for me is that this beer is good if you are planing on drinking a lot of them.  This beer is best used for social outings and parties.

As always comments and opinions are always welcome.  Until nest time, drink one for me.

Budweiser Black Crown Lager

As I was strolling though the beer aisle at the local grocery store I came upon something quite interesting.  I vaguely remember seeing some super bowl ad featuring Budweiser Black Crown Lager.  This peaked my interest so I bought it.

When pouring I noticed something different off the bat.  This beer poured with an almost righteous golden color and levels off a nice solid white head.  The smell is what hit me next, a clean sweet smell of carmel and grainy aroma.  Call me crazy but I may have detected a hint of banana.

Next the taste, it stays with you all the way to the end. Starts sweet and stays that way with no after taste this beer is quite smooth.  This beer is very smooth and offers quite a bit more flavor than regular Budweiser.  The maltier taste is what really sells here, that and there is no after taste.

Also did I mention it is a lager.  Which means at 6% it will defiantly get the job done.  This is one of the finer products Budweiser has to offer.  It goes with out saying that this beer needs some quality glass time.  This is my favorite of the Budweiser family.

As always comments and recommendations are welcome fell free to go crazy.  Until next time drink one for me.

Newcastle Brown Ale

Newcastle is the world's best known brown ale.  A brand owned by Heineken and produced in North Yorkshire, England.  One of the first beers to be distributed in glass bottles, and is associated with the heavy industry around England.

This beer is very easy to find, it is located in almost every where beer is sold.  This beer produces a nice amber color with little head. Good taste but is somewhat lacking in variety.  What is good about it's low hoppy taste is that it goes very well with most meals.  This is good because most ales offer a higher alcohol content.

One good thing about this particulate beer is that it doesn't last too long when left in room temperature.  That's good foe those of us who like really cold beer.  English beers are very unique in taste, are are sometimes hard to describe.  Even though this beer is easy to find, in my opinion, it is also quite easy to forget.  I feel like Newcastle brown ale is best enjoyed when others are buying.

As always feel free to leave any comments or opinions you may have. And if you have a favorite beer leave a recommendation.  Until next, drink one for me.

Becks Beer

Tonight I bring you another fine beer, and George Carlin.  I have for you Becks beer.  Becks is a German beer, actually Germany's best selling beer.  So good that they rank fifth among Germany's best selling breweries.  Outside of Germany the U.K and the U.S are the largest markets.  What can I say Germans made a good beer.

Little fact, the logo on becks bottle is actually the coat of arms for Breman, where it is brewed.  As I drank Beck's I noticed a very clean and refreshing beer with no grimy after taste.  As always you will want to enjoy this from the bottle preferably ice cold.  This is defiantly a beer to be enjoyed with food.

On a whole this is a good generic German beer.  A little bitter at first some say that a Germany beer is best served room temperature, I like mine to be cold.  What was surprising to me was the lack of head that this beer produced.  It poured well and had a good color but nothing special, as far as aesthetics.  Over all not bad but could be better.  I hear it's great in the summer.

As always I look forward to your comments and opinions and until next time, drink one for me.

Budweiser Beer

In lue of the Super Bowl tonight I'm going all out and bringing the king of all beers... yes Anheuser-Busch's infamous king of beers Budweiser.  That says it all, Budweiser is indeed the king of beers.  Who can forget those classic wazzzzzzUP!!! commercials and various super bowl ads.

Too the facts.  Anheuser-Busch owns 13 factories nation wide and ten theme parks. Hows that for fun. One thing they are famous for is their beechwood aging process.  A common misunderstanding is that they use beechwood chips to add flavor.  Not true, the act of burning beechwood is actually to add surface area where the chips settle.  This allows more yeast to enter the beer during brewing.  This in turn adds more flavor and utilizes all available ingredients.

When pouring notice the clean light copper body, great color equals great taste.  Notice how the head is almost a perfect off white color.  This is truly a great beer.  To really get the full flavor you must be using a glass.  Cans add too many reactive substances and leaves the drinker with a metallic taste.

OK folks half-time is almost over, but as always please feel free to leave comments and recommendations for future reviews.  As always be responsible especially on this super bowl weekend. Till next time, drink one for me.

Yuengling

This weeks beer is one of my personal favorites.  D.G Yuengling is one, if not the oldest brewing companies is the U.S.  So it is no dough they know how to craft such a fine beer.  Located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania home to some incredible brew masters Yuengling produces some 2.5 million barrels a year.  Not to shabby as the nations 4th largest brewery.

Yuengling Traditional Lager is the companies main staple. It's classic green bottles are marked "lager" for it's patrons of the North East coast.  Other varieties come in can from but if you want the real deal look no farther.

Yuengling is a dark beer rich in color and flavor.  Lite head that disappears quickly, some say it is a heavier alternative to most other lagers in it's class.  Has a very clean after taste not to gaudy, nothing there to remind the drinker and finishes crisp.  Good clean finish again not too heavily, dose not give a "full" feeling.  It goes without saying Yuengling goes great with a meal.

Yuengling and a fine steak, now that's a good night.  Yuengling folks, in my opinion, is one of the best damn beers out there.  If you don't think so leave your comments below, and share some of your personal favorites.  Till next time drink one for me.

Entro to "Something to Drink About"

Hello My name is Travis and I enjoy one of the finer things in life... BEER.  I started this blog to discuss some of the more famous and non-famous beer products out there. I enjoy both craft and non-craft beers, supporting the little man is just as important as enjoying a nice brew on a summer day.  I know some people think that beer and drinking are wrong, but here all I am trying to do is share a common interest.  If any body has anything to contribute please to do.

Discussions are welcome and are greatly needed.  Yes I am of legal age and responsible (disclaimer). Just a joke, but yes i do take this topic very seriously and this is just a place to enjoy a product.
I would like to start with my first beer.  This is one that I've been wanting to try for a while know and I finally get a chance to talk about it.   First up is...Shock Top Belgian White.  This beer comes from a long line of legendary brew masters from Anheuser-Busch.

I have to admit this would not be my first choice when entering to beer isle, with ingredients such as lemon, lime and orange peels.  Not only that but it requires a special pour technique.  What?  Once the beer is poured you are then instructed to roll the bottle around and empty the remainder into the glass.  This is to insure that all those little spices, and flavors end up in your glass.  As ridiculously as that may seems, it works.  You can really taste the different flavors.  Overall the Shock Top was good but not great.  It did however deliver a nice change of pace.

You may have noticed that in my post I didn't give a ranking of any sort.  Because that is not what I'm trying to accomplish.  Just a refreshing attitude towards to fun yet touchy topic.
